Frequently asked questions

1. What are the benefits of using the LITTLE BIRD parent portal?

With LITTLE BIRD you can enquire about childcare places with childcare providers of your choice, even several at the same time. It does not matter whether the desired providers currently have free capacity. All you need to do is register once and log in to the parent portal.

LITTLE BIRD can be used at any time and from the comfort of your own home, computer, smartphone or tablet. It minimises your time expenditure and saves you time-consuming paperwork. Of course, you still have the option of enquiring about places on site with the respective childcare providers.

The places are allocated by the providers themselves. We have limited the number of possible childcare enquiries to three facilities. LITTLE BIRD GmbH has no influence on the allocation of places and the permitted number of childcare enquiries.

2. Is there a contact person for questions?

Children and Youth Department of Mittweida City Council

Mail: nicole.sachse@mittweida.de

3. Do I have to register to view the childcare offers?

No. The LITTLE BIRD parents' portal works like a search engine. You can search without registering and view the results in a list and on a map. You can also view the individual profiles with information about the respective providers and contact details.

4. Why do I have to register?

You need to register and log in if you would like to make a childcare enquiry.

5. How can I make a childcare enquiry?

To enquire about a place with a provider of your choice, you must first register or log in. By clicking on the Create childcare enquiry button, you will be taken to an online form. The fields marked with * must be filled in with the correct data. Then send the enquiry. The childcare provider will be informed that you are interested in a place with your enquiry and the data you have provided.

6. Can I now only make childcare enquiries with LITTLE BIRD?

The portal is an easy way for you to make a childcare enquiry. In individual cases, you can also receive help with making an enquiry at one of our childcare centres. In any case, an enquiry via the LITTLE BIRD parent portal is necessary.

7. How can I contact the centres personally or directly?

To contact a centre directly, use the contact details of the centre in the respective portal profiles.

8. What do I need to bear in mind when completing the online forms in the parent portal?

Make sure that you enter all data correctly. Changes can only be made later using the portal's change service.

9. Do I have to specify a second contractual partner?

Yes, if you are married or if you have joint or shared custody of the child you wish to register.

10. What does the "Priority" field in the childcare enquiry mean?

If you request childcare places at several facilities at the same time, you can specify priorities, i.e. select your favourites from the selected facilities. Specifying priority "1" for a request to a specific facility means that this facility is your favourite.

11. How can I place a sibling in the same centre?

In the event that one of your children is already being looked after by the same provider, you have the option of indicating this in the childcare enquiry.

12. What happens after my childcare enquiry?

Your enquiry will be sent to your chosen childcare provider(s). You will then receive an e-mail to let you know whether your enquiry has been accepted by the childcare facility.

13. Can a pre-registration be rejected?

Yes, a pre-registration is a non-binding childcare enquiry which serves to plan the expected number of places required at the facility. There is no legal entitlement to the pre-registered place vis-à-vis the provider or the centre.

14. When will I find out whether my child has been allocated a place?

A decision on the allocation of a place will be made as soon as possible.

You will receive a concrete confirmation of a place at the earliest six months before the start of childcare.
